It’s all written in the Zodiac!

October 23, 2019 By: Diary of a Soul Searchercomment

Ok Blogtober is really getting my creative juices flowing today! It wants to know whether my Zodiac sign fits me or not.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change – Wayne Dyer

It’s pretty fair to assume that there are two categories of people when it comes to the subject of the Zodiac; believers and non-believers. I have been a believer since I was a young girl reading my horoscope in teen magazines.

The origins of the zodiac date back to Ancient Egypt. Early Astrologers learned that it took 12 lunar cycles (months) for the sun to return to its original position. 12 constellations were linked to changing seasons and assigned names:

  • Fire Signs: Aries, Sagittarius, Leo
  • Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
  • Air Signs: Libra, Aquarius, Gemini
  • Earth Signs: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo

Each element has a particular meaning. Fire represents action. Earth signifies stability. Air represents intellect. Water signifies emotion.

Truth is an observation

Astrologers believe that there is a relationship between astronomical events and descriptions personality in the human world. The scientific community have said there is no evidence to support this. Here are some things to ponder:

  • Can we see the air/oxygen that we breathe? – No but we ‘know’ it is there.
  • Radio waves transmit the data we rely upon in our daily lives, but we can’t see them!
  • The universe consists of trillions of atoms, none of which can be seen by the human eye.
  • Ultra-violet light – some animals can see it but humans cannot. Does this mean that it isn’t real? Not at all because the result of it is sunburn!
  • Gravity is measurable but not observable.
  • Our brain is observable in its chemical reactions but our thoughts and feelings are abstract.

Just because there is no ‘physical’ evidence to support a theory or idea does not mean it isn’t real.

“A Cancer feels everything down to their very core”

I am a water sign (Cancerian) and there are hundreds of books and websites that I could go to in order to research my sign. Lets take the first website of a ‘Cancer Zodiac’ google search and see what it says.

The moon is my ruler: Well I would have to agree. I cannot tell you how many times I have been emotional for no apparent reason only to realise it is a full moon!

Strengths: Tenacious, highly imaginative, loyal, emotional, sympathetic, persuasive.

Tenacious, well that’s just a word for not letting go/clingy isn’t it! Yes one could say that I struggle to let things go and I hold on tight to things sometimes a lot longer than I should. That also makes me loyal in many ways!

I do have a good imagination and most of the time it feels as if I am constantly daydreaming my days away.

I am certainly very emotional – ask friends and previous relationship partners! With this comes a high level of empathy and so I am very sympathetic to the plight of others – sometimes to my own detriment.

I can definitely be persuasive when I want to be.

Weaknesses: Moody, pessimistic, suspicious, manipulative, insecure

I think previously I was definitely moody, pessimistic and manipulative in some ways. Since I have been travelling the last year I have really focused on being self-aware and so I am teaching myself to combat these ‘weaknesses’.

I am suspicious and insecure yes. This is because of past events and hurts and I can’t help those ones.

Cancer likes: Art, home-based hobbies, relaxing near or in water, helping loved ones, a good meal with friends.

I am absolutely rubbish at art myself but I do so love a good art gallery! Looking at paintings and photographs and seeing the world through the eyes of others is a fascinating thing.

I am such a homebody. You will often find I am at my most happiest sitting indoors writing/reading or having a duvet day!

Now the water one is funny because I can’t swim and I don’t particularly like the open water any higher than my waist. But I do so love relaxing and being by the sea! I find the sea a calming and healing presence.

Helping loved ones is the absolute best feeling. I will always strive to go out of my way for those who need it.

Having a good meal with friends is definitely up there! I am such a foodie and when combined with great company its a win win!

Cancer dislikes: Strangers, any criticism of Mom, revealing of personal life.

I must admit I find it daunting meeting new people but I am getting better at it all the time.

Don’t criticise any of my family full stop.

There are aspects of my personal life that I absolutely hate divulging but know at some point I need to. I do absolutely detest it and so it does really take me a long time to open up about myself.

Delving deeper

Deeply intuitive and sentimental, Cancer can be one of the most challenging zodiac signs to get to know. They are very emotional and sensitive, and care deeply about matters of the family and their home. Cancer is sympathetic and attached to people they keep close. Cancer are very loyal and able to empathize with other people’s pain and suffering.

Guided by emotion and their heart, they could have a hard time blending into the world around them. Being ruled by the Moon, phases of the lunar cycle deepen their internal mysteries and create fleeting emotional patterns that are beyond their control. (Full moon meltdowns – I told you so)

Lack of patience or even love will manifest through mood swings and even selfishness, self-pity or manipulation. They are quick to help others, just as they are quick to avoid conflict.

Patriotism can make them endanger their own wellbeing, fighting for someone else’s cause, as if others can become their higher power. The Crab knows where they’re going, but this is often in a wrong direction, at least until they learn their lessons and start relying solely on themselves.

Cancer is a very emotional sign, and feelings are the most important thing in their relationships. Gentle and caring, they show their sensibility to the world without even thinking they might get hurt. For partners, they always choose a person who is able to understand them through non-verbal, silent contact, and a shared daily routine. Their affection won’t last long with superficial, flaky or unreliable partners.

This is a dedicated sign, ready to make many unhealthy compromises to keep their image of a family going. Shared responsibility and a life together with their partner makes them feel secure and ready for the next step in life. In love with children, parenthood, marriage and traditional values, they can still be misguided by people they admire and trust into changing their honest approach to a modern one that doesn’t fit their true personality.

When it comes to friendships Cancer gladly connects with new social contacts but is extremely sensitive of people not approved by their closest circle. Filled with respect for people they communicate to easily, they see all contacts through their emotional prism rather than simple curiosity or status.

Cancer is the sign of family and these individuals care about family bonds and their home more than any other sign of the zodiac. Deeply sentimental, they tend to diligently preserve family memories, keeping them intact for years.

When a job needs doing, a Cancer will roll their sleeves up and finish it successfully. If they are left alone to work, they usually perform better than when surrounded by other people.

Cancer personalities are quite complicated, but deep inside they are home-loving and conservative. A Cancer woman is vulnerable, emotional, and not likely to quickly fall in love. Once her trust is earned, she will be passionate and loyal. Romantic and ready to love this woman needs a romantic partner who believes in love.
